Search Max: What The Hell Is It
Hey friend,
Google Ads is changing again.
We all see it - Performance Max has become the main character in everyone's accounts (and definitely on LinkedIn). But now there's a new player in town: Search Max.
Here's the thing - this isn't even an actual feature yet. It hasn't been announced by Google. It's literally just been spotted by a few people in test accounts.
But it has everyone asking: is this the next big Google evolution?
A community member actually asked me about it the other day: "Hey Tomasz, what do you think about Search Max? How do I implement it?"
I had to tell them - hold on, it's not even a real feature (yet)!
What could Search Max be?
From what we know so far, Search Max looks to combine search term matching, text and URL optimization (similar to Performance Max) but specifically for search campaigns.
But is this just another test like Google runs hundreds of times a year? Or is this the future of search advertising?
In my latest video, I break down:
- Why exact match is dying (and why phrase match is already basically redundant)
- How Search Max could fit into Google's lineup alongside Performance Max and Demand Gen
- What auction priority it might have (and whether it will cannibalize your other campaigns)
- Why you need to understand the fundamentals of ad rank now more than ever

The Google Ads landscape is changing so fast that keeping up isn't enough. You need proven systems that will stand the test of time instead of chasing every shiny new feature.
